Opti-Port Member Eyecare Groups Learn Leadership Skills

ST. LOUIS—Members of the Opti-Port group recently spent time learning about a range of leadership issues and management skills through the group’s Eye Care University, a program developed for Opti-Port members in a partnership with the Bell Leadership Institute, a leader in executive education and development.


The recent session, the fourth “semester” in a series, was a two-day Achievers 1 course led by Bill Sanford of Bell Leadership. The final day included work sessions led by Opti-Port president and CEO, Jim Edwards. It focused on enabling attendees to bring knowledge and techniques back to their practices to effectively lead others in their organization. Space is limited in each session.


The Bell Leadership Institute Achievers 1 session curriculum includes learning about the most effective traits/profile of leaders, a 360-degree profile, which helps individuals match up versus the ideal and action plans to help participants improve specific areas of their practice.


Of the Opti-Port session, Sanford said, “I always love watching our participants open up and achieve so many insights during the program—and then watching them leave re-focused, re-energized, ready to implement action steps. Even better is hearing afterwards about all they have taken and put to use in their work and their lives.”

Opti-Port’s Erin Meyer told dba that the group plans to hold its next Eye Care University with Bell Leadership in fall 2016.

Opti-Port is a national alliance of multi-office eyecare providers that leverages the combined strength of its member companies to provide revenue enhancing, cost saving and market expanding opportunities.
